Lease End Dates

As of March 2022, we now offer Lease End Dates! This means that if you have a 12 month lease with your Tenant, you may mark that Start Date and End Date in your Property so that the system will  stop sending automated rent requests to that Tenant when the lease has expired and the Tenant will not be able to pay on an expired lease. This helps to bypass any accidental payments on an expired lease.

Here's how it works:

Setting the Lease Dates

You may set the lease dates when you add the property or at any time after. To add the lease dates to an existing property or update the dates to reflect a new/updated lease with your Tenant, please follow these steps:

1. Log into your Landlord Dashboard
2. Go to the Properties tab
3. Choose the Property you wish to update
4. Choose the three dots in the right-hand corner here:

   

5. Select the Update Property option

That will take you to the Update Unit page where you would go to update all of the unit details. From here you will see two boxes that say Lease Start Date and Lease End Date:

Please keep in mind that you're not required to have these in place in order to send Rent Requests. If you do not have a Lease End Date chosen, those automated monthly rent request emails will continue to be sent out to your Tenant indefinitely. This works well for a month-to-month lease.

If you DO choose an end date, no further requests will be sent out after 11:59PM EST on the Lease End Date and it will stop your Tenant from sending through any payments after that time.

Once those dates are input and you click the Update Unit button at the bottom, those dates will be set until you're ready to update them again.

Approaching the Lease End Date

We know that life can be hectic, so there are a few safeguards to make sure that you have time to update that Lease End Date if you and your Tenant choose to extend the lease.

1. 30 Days Notice in the Landlord Dashboard

30 days prior to the Lease End Date, you'll start to see this notification in your Dashboard:

That is just to remind you that the date is coming up and that you have the option to update the Lease End Date if needed.

2. 30 Day Notice Via Email

If you have everything automated in your Landlord Dashboard, you may not log in in time to see the notice. We've set up an email that will hit your inbox 30 days prior to the Lease End Date.

3. 30 Days Notice in the Tenant Portal

Your Tenant will also receive a notification in their Tenant Portal to let them know that the Lease End Date is coming up.

After the Lease End Date

If you run out of time to update that Lease End Date for a renewed lease, don't worry! You will be able to log into your account and update that after the Lease End Date. If you have a new Tenant, you may update it to reflect that new lease as well.

Please  note that once the Lease End Date is reached, the Tenant will not be able to pay from their Tenant portal until that has been updated.

If you are assigning a new Tenant, please deselect the prior Tenant and assign your new Tenant.

You will receive an email from LandlordStation to let you know that the lease has ended. The Tenant that is assigned to the property will also receive an emailed alert and will see an alert in their account that lets them know that their lease has expired.
